Web design for trades in Halifax

I build websites for plumbers, electricians and other trades working in Halifax, and I build them to be found when a homeowner on the peninsula searches for the job. Halifax has work you won't find the same way anywhere else in the province: lead water lines in pre-1960 homes and heritage districts with their own rules. A good Halifax trades site has a page that answers each of those.

What's different about working in Halifax?

The housing is old. Much of the peninsula was built up by the 1950s, and Halifax Water says lead water service lines are possible in homes built before 1960 on the peninsula. Lead was also used in solder and fittings until Canada banned it in 1986.

Halifax Water's Get the Lead Out program replaces lead service lines for free by 2038. An owner who doesn't want to wait can hire a qualified contractor and get a rebate of 25% of the cost, up to $5,000 (checked October 7, 2026).

The peninsula has three heritage conservation districts: Barrington Street, Schmidtville and Old South Suburb. Many exterior changes there need a Certificate of Appropriateness from the city, and that includes outdoor fuel tanks and mechanical or electrical equipment. Most basic maintenance and repairs don't.

What should a Halifax trades website say?

If you replace lead lines, a page on lead service line replacement on the peninsula, with the Halifax Water rebate explained and the date you checked it, answers the exact question an owner of a 1950s house is asking.

If you work in the heritage districts, say so, and say which jobs need a Certificate and which don't. A homeowner in Schmidtville looking for a new heat pump or oil tank wants a trade who already knows the rule.

And because so much of the peninsula is older homes, many of the everyday jobs here are older-house jobs: old wiring, old pipes, older panels. Name them in your own words.

Who have I built for in Halifax?

Middle Man Movers, a Halifax moving company that specializes in small moves, and a planning coach, Ashley Fahie. Both sites are live and on the work page, along with what Ashley said about hers. No Halifax plumber or electrician client yet: the other trades work so far is a landscaper on the South Shore and an electrician's site in build.

How do Halifax electricians' websites stack up?

  • 27 electricians listed in Halifax; 6 with no website.
  • 11 of 17 sites with no page for any town they work in.
  • 14 of 21 with no call button in the header on a phone.

Electricians with this town on their Google listing, researched by Just Work Automated in September 2026. Counts only, no business named; each share counts only the sites where the check could be read in full.

Questions from Halifax trades

Do you build websites for trades in Halifax?
Yes. I'm based in Cole Harbour and work with trades across Halifax. The work itself is remote, so a site visit only matters for photos.
Should my Halifax site mention the lead pipe rebate?
If you do that work, yes, with the amount and the date you checked it on Halifax Water's page. Programs change, and a dated line tells people how much to trust it.
